بہمن  کی جڑ صرف پودا سے حاصل کی جاتی ہے، وہ پودا کوہستان ارمن و خراسان میں پیدا ہوتا ہے اور یہیں سے جڑ درآمد کی جاتی ہے۔

:شناخت

اس کی شاخوں پر پھولوں کا گچھا ہوتا ہے۔ پتے پھیلے ہوتے ہیں۔ اس کی صرف جڑ ہی استعمال میں لائی جاتی ہے۔ یہ ایک لعاب دار مخروطی  جڑ ہے  جو خوشبودار ہوتی ہے اور اوپر جھریا ں پڑی ہوئی ہوتی ہیں۔اس کی دو قسمیں بہمن  سرخ و سفید ہیں۔ اس لئے سرخ و سفید کی بجائے عام طور پر حکیم،وید  نسخوں میں بہمنین لکھتے ہیں۔ دونوں قسم کے بہمن  فوائد میں برابر ہیں اور ایک قسم دوسری قسم کی بدل ہے۔

:فوائد

جریان،سرعت و احتلام وغیرہ  امراض میں بکثرت استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔ مفرح و مقوی دل ہے۔ منی کو گاڑھا کرتا ہے۔ جسم کو موٹا کرتا ہے۔ گردے مثانے کی پتھری کے لئے بھی مفید ہے۔ اکثر مقوی باہ نسخہ جات بہمن  سفید و سرخ  شامل کئے جاتے ہیں۔

White Sage known as Garden Sage, Dalmatian Sage, Common Sage and Salvia Haematodes. It is rich in antioxidants, it may actually prevent Alzheimer’s disease. British researchers have confirmed that it inhibits the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, thus preserving the compound that seems to help prevent and treat Alzheimer’s. Red Sage contains fairly high levels of antiseptics and tannins. Tannins have a soothing, astringent action and an antimicrobial effect. It is also known to inhibit the action of the tuberculosis bacillus.

It is a tonic, stimulant, antidepressant, adaptogenic, anti cholesterolemic, astringent, carminative, digestive, oestrogenic, nerve tonic and an aphrodisiac and largely prescribed in seminal debility, anaemia, etc. It is also used to treat asthma. Also useful in menstrual disorders, erectile dysfunction, habitual miscarriages, cystitis, chronic liver and kidney diseases, and for checking the secretion of mammary glands. It is valuable in stress-related conditions and has an antihypertensive effect. It strengthens the nervous system and aids convalescence.

Side Effects:

This herb is not recommended if you are pregnant or lactating. Those with epilepsy may be adversely affected by the thujone content, and should not use this product. Those who are allergic to members of the mint family (thyme, basil, sage, marjoram, etc.), should avoid this herb.
